Fish biodiversity and livelihood of fishermen at an Oxbow lake of South-West Bangladesh

The present study was conducted to know the biodiversity status and assess existing livelihood conditions of fishers Habullah Baor at Bagherpara upazila, Jashore district from November 2017 April 2018. Sixty fishermen were randomly selected for collecting data through a semi structured questionnaire. current discovered that there 11 different fish species six orders seven families in baor. All sampled Hindu. About 25% young aged, majority middle aged old group. A total 75% had nuclear family lived joint family. Among 85% few decimal cultivable land 15% truly landless. Annual income respondents varied 30,000 70,000 BDT with an average 42,833 BDT. access drinking water tube wells. Most katcha houses. enjoyed electricity facilities their home. investigated, earthen latrine, 20% used tin shed 8% concrete latrine them 10% no latrine. There modern medical villages. alternate sources during dry season time ban period. as whole are leading measurable life due great financial hardship.
